Best Time to Visit Meghalaya

October–April is ideal — clear skies, pleasant days and safe river boating at Dawki. Visit in June–September if you want the waterfalls of Cherrapunji at their thundering, monsoon-fed best (though roads and treks get slippery). We plan the route around the season you choose.

The gateway is Guwahati (Assam) — well connected by flights and trains from across India. From Guwahati, Shillong is a scenic 3-hour drive. Our package includes pickup from Guwahati airport or railway station.

4 days covers Shillong and Cherrapunji. 5–6 days lets you add Dawki, Mawlynnong and the root-bridge trek comfortably. 6–7 days is ideal if you also want Kaziranga in Assam.

No Inner Line Permit is required for Meghalaya for Indian citizens. Carry a government photo ID for hotel check-ins and the Dawki border area near Bangladesh.

In the dry season (roughly November–April) the Umngot river at Dawki runs famously crystal-clear, and boats appear to float in mid-air. During and just after the monsoon the water turns greenish from runoff, so time your visit for winter/spring for the iconic view.
