Wild elephant herd in the Dooars forest — Dooars tour package with jungle safari at Gorumara and Jaldapara

Dooars Tour Package with Jungle Safari

Gorumara • Jaldapara • Chapramari • Murti River — the forests reopen after the monsoon and Puja week fills up first. Reserve your safari & resort now.

Dooars — North Bengal's Jungle Doorstep

Two hours from Siliguri, the hills flatten into the Dooars — a belt of sal forest, tea gardens and braided rivers that shelters one-horned rhinos, Indian bison, wild elephants and, if you are lucky, a leopard crossing the road at dusk. It is the easiest wildlife holiday in Eastern India: no flights, no long drives, no permits to chase.

AU Cloud Tours Pvt. Ltd. is based in Siliguri, at the edge of these forests. Our Dooars tour packages cover jeep safaris at Gorumara, Jaldapara and Chapramari, riverside resorts at Lataguri, Murti and Chalsa, and the quiet corners most itineraries skip — Samsing, Suntalekhola, Jhalong and Bindu.

🦏 Rhino Country

Jaldapara and Gorumara hold healthy one-horned rhino populations — plus gaur, elephant and deer.

🚙 Jeep & Elephant Safari

Limited daily jeeps and the Hollong elephant ride — both need booking well in advance.

🏞️ Murti Riverside Stays

Wake up to mist on the river with the forest starting on the far bank.

The Forests Reopen in September — Book Before Puja

West Bengal's forests close every monsoon (roughly 16 June to 15 September) for the breeding season, and safaris stop entirely. They reopen in mid-September, just as the Durga Puja holidays begin — which makes the last week of September through November the busiest stretch of the Dooars year.

Puja-week resorts at Lataguri and Murti are usually gone by late August, and forest safari slots are capped daily. If you are planning an autumn or Puja Dooars trip, reserve now rather than in September. Exact reopening dates are announced by the Forest Department each year — we confirm them before your booking is finalised.

What a Dooars Trip Covers

Gorumara National Park

Watchtowers at Jatraprasad and Chandrachur, morning and afternoon jeep safaris from Lataguri.

Jaldapara National Park

The best rhino sightings in Bengal, plus the famous early-morning elephant safari from Hollong.

Chapramari & Murti

Elephant corridors, riverbed picnics and the most photogenic stays in the Dooars.

Samsing • Suntalekhola • Bindu

Orange orchards, hanging bridges and the Jaldhaka river at the Bhutan border — a perfect add-on day.

Combine Dooars With the Hills

Most travellers pair the Dooars with a hill station — the forests and the mountains are only a few hours apart, and we run both legs on a single private cab.

Best Time to Visit the Dooars

Mid-September to March is the season. October and November bring clean post-monsoon air and thick green forest; February and March offer the best wildlife sightings, as thinning cover pushes animals towards the water. Avoid mid-June to mid-September — the parks are closed and the rivers run high.

Frequently Asked Questions

West Bengal's forests normally close from around 16 June to 15 September for the breeding season, with safaris resuming in mid-September. The Forest Department announces the exact reopening date each year, and heavy rain can push it later — we confirm the current date before finalising your booking.

Lataguri, the main gateway for Gorumara, is roughly 70–80 km from both NJP railway station and Bagdogra airport — about a 2-hour drive. Jaldapara is further east, around 3.5–4 hours. Our package includes private cab pickup from either point.

2 nights covers Gorumara and Murti comfortably with two safaris. 3 nights lets you add Jaldapara or the Samsing–Suntalekhola–Bindu belt. Beyond that, most guests continue to Darjeeling, Gangtok or Bhutan on the same trip.

No operator can guarantee sightings — these are wild forests, not enclosures. Rhino, bison and deer are seen regularly at Jaldapara and Gorumara; elephants are common but unpredictable; leopards and tigers are rare. Booking an early-morning safari and staying two nights greatly improves your odds.

Yes. Each park runs a limited number of jeeps per slot, and during Puja and winter weekends they are taken well ahead. Forest-department bungalows such as Hollong are the hardest of all to get. We handle safari permits and resort blocking as part of the package.
